Geomech Africa Selected for Major Hydropower Geotechnical Investigation

Geomech Africa has secured a significant R100-million contract awarded by the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority to lead intrusive geotechnical investigations for the 120 MW Oxbow Hydropower Scheme in Lesotho. This critical Phase 2 scope involves extensive sub-surface exploration—including 18 vertical, inclined, and sub-horizontal boreholes totalling nearly 2 650 m in drill length, alongside specialised in-situ and laboratory testing—to mitigate engineering risks for the underground peaking plant.
