This month, the Geo Angels rallied together for a donation of 50 chairs, cans of soup and some colouring books towards Baby Moses Children’s Sanctuary. Baby Moses is an organisation dedicated to taking in (and caring for) abused, abandoned and orphaned children. Their homes allow over 100 boys and girls to gain access to opportunities that they would not have had previously. Christo and Lanie de Klerk (owners of Baby Moses), has since 2002, faithfully been dedicating their lives to creating a safe space for these kids to grow up in. “We believe that children should grow up in a family, instead of big institutions where they can get lost within the cracks”, says Christo, owner of Baby Moses.
Apart from the care facilities, they additionally have various initiatives that form part of Baby Moses. One of these initiatives is a feeding programme, where Mamma Cindy (pictured in the middle) spends her weekends feeding over 100 kids on Saturdays and Sundays in the Slovoville community, in Soweto. She gets up at around 3:30 am to start preparing meals, with kids arriving as early as 6 am.
“Thank you so much for your generous donation of 50 sturdy plastic chairs, as well as the 50 colouring books, for our Slovoville feeding project. We were truly encouraged by your response to our newsletter, and even more so by your practical support.
The chairs will make a real and immediate difference. Until now, many of the children had to eat standing or sitting on the ground, especially over the busy weekends. Thanks to your kindness, every child will now be able to sit comfortably and enjoy their meal with a sense of dignity.” – Christo de Klerk
