CPTu | NEW GEAR, NEW CAPABILITIES
We are excited to announce a significant upgrade to our site investigation capabilities with the acquisition of new, high-precision Gouda Geo-Equipment. This investment includes the latest 10 cm² and 15 cm² Piezocones (CPTu), alongside specialised Seismic and Electrical Conductivity modules, specifically chosen to enhance our geotechnical and environmental assessments on complex projects.

A Versatile Multi-Sensor Fleet

Our new fleet includes both the international standard 10 cm² cone (ideal for high-resolution layering) and the robust 15 cm² cone. The 15 cm² model is a "powerhouse" for deeper investigations; its 44 mm diameter creates a larger borehole that reduces rod friction, allowing us to reach greater depths in the challenging, stratified soils often found in tailings dams.

Advanced Seismic & Environmental Analysis

By integrating two specialised "inline" modules, we can now capture critical data in a single push:

  • Seismic Module: This tool measures shear wave velocity directly in the ground. For our engineers, this means we can calculate the small-strain shear modulus, a vital parameter for assessing soil stiffness and liquefaction potential.
  • Electrical Conductivity Module: This module measures soil salinity, moisture content, and porosity. In a tailings environment, it is an invaluable tool for mapping seepage pathways and identifying potential contaminant plumes without the need for traditional monitoring wells.

The new equipment allows us to move beyond basic soil classification to provide a comprehensive, 3D understanding of site safety and environmental integrity, ensuring we remain at the forefront of geotechnical excellence.
