Continuous Risk Assessment Training

At the GeoGroup, we understand the inherent risks involved across all the different services we offer. Even more so, we are committed to providing our staff with the tools and knowledge they need to work safely and efficiently. That's why we recently conducted annual refresher training on Continuous Risk Assessment (CRA).

What is CRA Training?
CRA training equips our drillers and technicians with the skills to proactively identify and mitigate risks. It's not a one-time event; it's an ongoing process that emphasizes vigilance and adaptation. It's important to us that our staff understand important CRA principles:

  • Hazard identification: Recognizing potential dangers like unexpected ground conditions, utility strikes, and equipment failures.
  • Risk evaluation: Assessing the likelihood and severity of each hazard.
  • Risk control: Implementing measures to minimize risks, such as using appropriate drilling techniques, deploying safety equipment, and having clear emergency procedures.
  • Monitoring and communication: Continuously monitoring the situation for changes and effectively communicating risks and emergency strategies to all crew members.

Even minor incidents can have serious consequences. CRA training offers several benefits:

  • Enhanced safety: By proactively managing risks, crews can significantly reduce the chance of accidents and injuries.
  • Improved efficiency:  Identifying and addressing potential problems early on prevents delays and costly downtime.
  • Stronger regulatory compliance: Many regions have regulations mandating risk management plans. CRA training ensures compliance and demonstrates a commitment to safety.
  • Positive work environment: A culture of risk awareness fosters trust and collaboration among crew members.

Investing in CRA training is an investment in the safety and success of all of our operations. It empowers our team to make informed decisions and navigate challenges effectively and safely.
