About ShapeArray™

Terra Monitoring, a sister company of GeoGroup is now an installer of ShapeArray™.

ShapeArray™ are automated inclination monitoring instruments that are widely used to measure the deformation of soil and structures in the Geotechnical Monitoring fields. They are particularly well-suited for long-term monitoring applications due to their durability and reliability. These units can record real-time deformation data vertically, horizontally, or in an arc.

ShapeArray™ are typically installed in boreholes or tunnels and consist of a series of rigid segments connected by joints which allow the segments to move independently. This flexibility allows ShapeArray™ to be versatile with installations allowing accurate deformation measurements in both horizontal and vertical orientations depending on installation type.

ShapeArray™ are used in a variety of applications, including:
  • Monitoring the stability of slopes, dams, and embankments
  • Tracking the movement of tunnels, bridges, and buildings
  • Assessing the performance of foundation piles and retaining walls
Detecting and monitoring ground movements caused by underground construction or mining activities. ShapeArray™ are a valuable tool for geotechnical engineers and other professionals who need to monitor the movement of soil and structures. They are a reliable and cost-effective way to collect data that can be used to assess risk, design remedial measures, and ensure the safety of infrastructure.

One key advantage of ShapeArray™ is that they can be installed in 25mm PVC Conduit and can form an arc over installation lengths where traditional inclinometers struggle in similar conditions.
